“This log is a perfect coffee table-cum-seat!”
When my Taitung host took me to a driftwood-strewn beach, I initially saw only a huge mess.
My host then explained that the wood had been washed down from the mountains after a recent typhoon and some could be salvaged.
I soon spotted a unique log and imagined it as the perfect coffee table-cum-seat.
As I pretended to sit down to sip my imaginary coffee, I nearly fell, which had me laughing out loud!
This incident reminded me of business transformation for SMEs
Just like seeing potential in driftwood, companies must look beyond their current pathways to discover new possibilities. But breaking out of their 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐬 isn’t easy.
Here are 3 tips for SMEs to proactively overcome their blind spots:
🔮 Seek insights from 𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 e.g. different industries.
🔮 Challenge traditional 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬
🔮 Actively explore 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬
What strategies do you use to break out of your knowledge corridor and uncover new opportunities?
