What Readers Say

“I opened the book just to flip through, but got glued to it and continued!” - Pat “You distilled the profoundness of cancer into something simple, succinct, and instructional.” - Grace “This book - its flow, pace, and wit - is pure joy!” - Amanda “One of the stories that tickled me was how she turned her chemotherapy sessions into ‘Happy Hour’.” - Benny “I ravished your book at one go. Written with authenticity, boldness, courage - and a dash of wicked humour.” - Swee Lin

“I sat down to read this book expecting the heavy weight of a cancer survivor who had gone through so much in such a short period of time. What I got was unquestionably a peek behind the curtain - but one that is so wholeheartedly reflective of an author who leans into the experience as a transformative life lesson and shares insights that are both grounding and compelling. This book - it’s flow, it’s pace, it’s wit - is pure joy!

I an humbled to have shared space with Hsin Ning and am not at all surprised that I close this book feeling oddly elated, regardless of the seriousness of topic.

Thank you so much for sharing.” - Amanda

SMILE: A Light-Hearted Cancer Memoir (That Isn’t Really About Cancer)

What happens when life throws you something so absurd you can only laugh?

This is a collection of reflections from my cancer journey, but it’s not really a book about cancer. It’s about noticing the odd, tender, sometimes ridiculous moments that arise when life breaks your rhythm. From hoarding strawberry buns I never wanted, to finding joy in street food videos while I couldn’t eat, these stories are my way of capturing what it means to keep going.
